2016 was another banner year for economic development in Jackson County, as we attracted 4 new corporate citizens and 5 major expansions. Amazon, Williams-Sonoma, Hubbell Incorporated and Benore Logistics, each located brand new facilities in Jackson County in 2016, totaling approximately $140 million in new investment and creating approximately 1,100 new jobs. Just as importantly, our existing industries continue to invest in Jackson County and create new jobs. Huber Engineered Woods, Resilux, and Deutz Corporation completed expansions in 2016 which totaled over $15 million. Southeast Toyota Distributors and Kubota Tractor Corporation recently announced major expansions, which combined total over $40 million in new investment.
Jackson County received international recognition in 2016 when named to the Top 75 (out or 576), “Best in the US for Economic Development” in the Micropolitan category by Site Selection Magazine. Jackson County also earned a spot in the United States’ top 100 fastest-growing counties between 2014 and 2015, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
