The planning commission has recently been reconstituted with six members, five of whom are appointed by the Jefferson City Council and one of whom is appointed by the Talmo City Council.  The planning commission has an advisory role with regard to applications for rezoning, conditional uses, and variances in the cities of Jefferson and Talmo.  The full powers and duties of the commission are outlined in Article 18 of the Land Use Management Code (see link this page).  The planning commission’s regular monthly meeting date is the third Tuesday of the month, at 6:00 p.m., at the Jefferson Civic Center, 65 Kissam Street, Jefferson, Georgia 30549. 

Current Planning Commission members and their terms of appointment are as follows:   Robert "Chip" McEver, III Chairman (Talmo) Term Expires 09/03/2014, Greg Laughinghouse (Jefferson) Term Expires 09/03/2012, Robert Martin (Jefferson) Term Expires 09/03/2012, Faye Griffin (Jefferson) Term Expires 09/03/2012, Brant McMullen (Jefferson) Term Expires 09/03/2013, Scott Thompson (Jefferson) Term Expires 09/03/2014.  Correspondence to individual commission members can be directed to the Planning and Development Department, the administrative agency for the commission.
