Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control
Jefferson and
Talmo’s soil erosion ordinance is contained within the Land Use Management Code (see Article 13). The
Department of Planning and Development is a local issuing authority. Review of soil erosion and sedimentation
control plans is undertaken by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Oconee River Soil and Water Conservation District,
in Winder, but plans are submitted to the Department of Planning and Development and then routed to the district.
Flood Plain Management
The flood damage prevention ordinance for
Jefferson and Talmo is contained within the Land Use Management Code (see Article 14). Flood insurance
rate maps can be viewed online at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Map Service Center; or, contact the Department
to view a hard copy of flood insurance rate maps.
Georgia Stormwater Management Manual
The cities of Jefferson and Talmo require conformance of development plans to the requirements of the
Georgia Stormwater Management Manual.
Land Development Requirements
The specifications for development are contained within Articles 27 and 28 of the Land Use Management
Code. The requirements differ among exurban/rural (Article 27) and suburban/urban (Article 28) areas.
