The economies of Jackson
County and the City of Jefferson are experiencing excellent growth as the Atlanta market expands northeast up the I-85
corridor. Starting in the 80’s, The City of Jefferson has worked hard to develop infrastructure to support commercial
and industrial growth. The Mayor and Council work closely with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and state-wide developers
to bring new commercial and industrial growth to the area. The community has been successful in attracting many small and
medium sized manufacturing companies to the Jefferson area. In the past five years, several new industrial parks have been developed both inside the city limits as well as adjacent to the city. Developers maintain an active available buildings program and many will build-to-suit on sites within their industrial parks. An active
economic development roads project in the county has also opened up several commercial corridors which have begun attracting
quality commercial shopping centers as well as hotels and retail centers. The Downtown Development Authority and Better Hometown
Jefferson are working hard on beautification and redevelopment of the downtown area.
