What's Happening in Jefferson
Week of February 14, 2022
The Citizen(s) of the Year award was presented to and is shared by all the members of Jackson County Baptist Church, represented by Pastor Matt Booher, and all the members of The Jefferson Church, represented by Pastor Nick Dalton. Our 2021 Officer(s) of the Year award was given to Investigator Kyle Anderson, and Investigator Trina Locke, who retired at the end of 2021. They both did outstanding work in our Criminal Investigations Division throughout 2021 and also successfully tracked down and helped capture a bank robbery suspect who had robbed at least three banks in Georgia. A proclamation of the city council of the City of Jefferson proclaiming February 18, 2022 as Arbor Day was signed and read by Mayor Howell at the Febuary 14, City Council Meeting. The Jefferson Civic Center on Monday, February 14, provided free weddings for 5 couples. The wedding included the music provided by Sally Stites, violinist and was officiated by Brandi Meadows of Victoria Grace Boutique. A small reception followed with cake cutting and the first dance. Each couple received a free cake provided by Bakers Dozen. The Civic Center hopes to make this an annual event.
The Library had a visit from therapy dog, Lady. Attendees were able to pet Lady and read her a story!
