Winning Warriors Day Camp is returning for its 5th year summer 2024. A non-profit partnership between the City of Jefferson Fire Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office along with many other public service agencies and community partners, the Winning Warriors was created for one mission–to bring servants of the community together with children and young adults who have experienced significant trauma, be it physical or emotional, so they can all be warriors for a better tomorrow.
To that end, on June 4-6, 2024, public servants from across Jackson County–including police, fire, EMS, sheriff’s officers, military personnel, and regular volunteers–will again be hosting a totally free, fun-filled adventure for children from our community who have experienced some form of significant trauma. Examples include children who have lost a parent, those in the foster system, those who have experienced a significant burn injury, and children of actively deployed military. By bringing these two groups together public servants who are already positive role models will be able to provide a fun, healing environment for both the children and the volunteers with both groups only realizing the fun!
Taking place primarily at the Jackson County Agricultural Center, activities will include biking, kayaking, archery, swimming, camping and woodcraft, fishing, horseback riding, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, arts and crafts and Field Day. Once the kids are dropped off the fun won’t stop until it is time to go home except for lunch and dinner.
To be a camper all you have to do is be age 6-17, be part of our target audience, have your parent or guardian apply, and show up. To be a volunteer we require a little more including a helping heart and a servant’s soul. In return we 99% guarantee three days of fun, a happier, healthier outlook, and a more loving and connected Jackson County.
